Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of ShineSquad, a mobile car detailing service operated by SunStar America LLC (“we,” “us,” or “ShineSquad”). By booking a service or creating an account, you agree to these terms.

Service area and eligibility

ShineSquad serves the Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia region from our Rockville, MD base. Service availability outside the standard 25-mile radius is subject to detailer availability and may incur a travel fee. You must be 18 or older and have legal authority over the vehicle being serviced.

Booking, pricing, and payment

Prices are calculated based on your vehicle size, luxury tier, the service package selected, any add-ons, distance from our base, and applicable surcharges (same-day, after-hours). The estimated total is shown to you before payment authorization.

When you confirm a booking, we authorize a hold on your card equal to the estimated total plus a 15% buffer for any on-site add-ons you approve in person. This is an authorization, not a charge. The final amount captured equals only what you actually used; the unused portion of the hold is released after the service is complete.

Maryland sales tax (6%) applies to all services rendered in Maryland. All prices are in US dollars.

Cancellation policy

  • More than 24 hours before your appointment: Free cancellation, full hold released, no charge.
  • Within 24 hours of your appointment: A $50 late-cancellation fee is captured from your existing card hold; the remainder of the hold is released.
  • No-show: If our detailer arrives at the scheduled time and location and is unable to reach you within 15 minutes of attempting contact, a $50 no-show fee will be captured from the hold.
  • Service disruption on our side (detailer running late, vehicle issue, weather): no charge regardless of timing. We additionally provide a 15% reschedule discount valid for 30 days.

SMS communications

By providing your mobile number when you book, you consent to receive SMS messages from ShineSquad at the number you provide.

Program name: ShineSquad Booking Updates
Description: Transactional messages about your mobile car detailing booking — confirmations, reminders, status updates, completion receipts, cancellations, and chat notifications from your assigned detailer.
Message frequency: Varies by booking activity. Typically 2–6 messages per booking.
Message and data rates may apply per your wireless carrier’s plan.

To opt out of SMS messages at any time, reply STOPto any ShineSquad message. You will receive a confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and will not receive further messages, except for any required final notice. If you opt out, you may still receive critical transactional messages required to fulfill an active booking (e.g., a detailer’s arrival notice for a job already in progress).

Carrier participation is not required for service. Carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Customer responsibilities

  • Ensure the vehicle is accessible at the service address at the scheduled time, including any necessary access codes, gate openings, or parking permissions.
  • Provide a power and water source if your booking includes services that require them (we’ll let you know in advance).
  • Remove personal belongings of value from the vehicle before service.
  • Disclose any pre-existing damage or known mechanical issues prior to the start of service.
  • Be available by phone or in-app chat for the 30 minutes before and after the scheduled appointment.

Limitation of liability

ShineSquad uses professional-grade products and trained detailers. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden mechanical issues, or normal product reactions on uncoated, weathered, or previously damaged surfaces. We are not responsible for items left in the vehicle. In the unlikely event of damage caused by our service, our liability is limited to the cost of repair or, at our option, the amount paid for the affected service.

Photos and signed paperwork

We capture before-and-after photos of every vehicle as service documentation. These photos are stored with your booking record and shown to you in the app. We do not publish or use them for marketing without your written consent. You sign the completion form after service to acknowledge work performed; this signature is stored with your booking record.

Account and termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to refuse service or close accounts for repeated no-shows, chargebacks without cause, abusive behavior toward our detailers, or other violations of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active customers by email. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Maryland.
