Privacy Policy

ShineSquad is operated by SunStar America LLC (“we,” “us,” or “ShineSquad”), a Maryland limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the limited circumstances under which we share it. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Information we collect

When you book a mobile car detail with us, we collect the following:

  • Your name, email address, and mobile phone number
  • Your service address and approximate GPS coordinates (used to dispatch the closest detailer and calculate travel time)
  • Vehicle details you provide (year, make, model, color, size, luxury tier)
  • Photos you upload of your vehicle prior to the appointment
  • Payment card information, processed and stored exclusively by our payment processor (Stripe)
  • Booking history, service preferences, and any notes you leave for the detailer
  • Messages you send through the in-app chat with your assigned detailer

When a detailer is en route to you, we collect their device’s GPS location for the duration of the trip so you can track their arrival in real time.

How we use your information

  • To schedule, dispatch, complete, and bill your booking
  • To communicate with you about your appointment via SMS, email, in-app chat, and (when initiated by you or your detailer) phone calls
  • To match you with a qualified detailer based on vehicle type, location, and our team’s availability
  • To process payment authorizations, captures, and refunds via Stripe
  • To send service-related notifications (booking confirmation, reminders, en-route alerts, completion receipts, cancellation notices)
  • To improve our service, including dispatch accuracy and time estimates
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud

SMS messages

By providing your mobile number when you book, you consent to receive SMS messages from ShineSquad related to your booking, including:

  • Booking confirmations and appointment reminders
  • Status updates from your assigned detailer (en route, arrived, started, completed)
  • Notifications about service disruptions (running late, vehicle issue) with options to cancel or reschedule
  • Receipts and signed paperwork after service is complete
  • Notifications when your detailer sends you a chat message
  • Cancellation confirmations

Message frequency varies based on your booking activity (typically 2–6 messages per booking). Message and data rates may apply per your mobile carrier’s plan. To opt out at any time, reply STOP to any ShineSquad message. To get help, reply HELP or contact us at the address below. You can opt back in by replying START.

We do not share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use your number for any purpose other than communicating with you about your booking.

Privacy-protected calls

When you or your detailer initiate a phone call through the ShineSquad app, the call is routed through a masked phone number provided by our telecommunications partner (Twilio). Neither party sees the other’s real phone number. Call sessions are logged for safety and dispute purposes but the audio content is not recorded.

Service providers

We share information with the following service providers, only to the extent necessary to deliver the service to you:

  • Stripe — processes payments and handles card data. We never receive or store full card numbers.
  • Twilio — sends SMS notifications and routes privacy-protected voice calls.
  • Supabase — provides database, authentication, and file storage infrastructure.
  • Google Maps Platform — provides traffic-aware travel time estimates between job locations. We send approximate coordinates, not your name or contact info.
  • Vercel — hosts our application infrastructure.
  • NHTSA vPIC — public US government vehicle catalog used to look up makes and models. We send vehicle year, make, and model only.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

We retain your booking history for as long as your account remains active, and afterwards as required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance (typically 7 years). You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us; we will honor the request except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

Your choices

  • You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP.
  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, or request its deletion, by emailing us.
  • You can update your contact info, vehicle details, and preferences from your account at any time.

Children’s privacy

ShineSquad is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy in a material way, we will notify active customers by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
